Linksys Wireless G Router/Axim X3i Owners
I am on my second X3i due to spotty wireless connections. I have a very "healthy" home wireless network as 3 machines connect 100% of the time, even my Tivo connects 100% of the time! My 3Xi? Totally random. I am frustrated because lately it takes 5 - 10 attempts to connect. At a public location where my son studies martial arts, my X3i connects 100% of the time. They use a DLink router, and I have yet to ask about their settings.
What settings do you guys use that own a Linksys G Router and X3i? It's a totally vanilla setup for me: Channel 6, Mixed mode (Tivo is B protocol), no Mac addresses, WEP 128 turned on and key CAREFULLY entered, and so on.
Help!!

I have the linksys G too. It just seems that running it in mixed mode does not make it happy. I find that when my Ax starts acting up like you describe if I reset the router the problem vanishes for a while. On the linksys site they give some tweaks you can do if your having trouble getting something to connect I just have not got around to trying them yet. Lazy I guess. Try a reset.

Done the reset thing, a number of times. I have considered setting my router to B, as I cannot get a G adapter that is Tivo certified.
Maybe it's B for me.

I'm running a linksys G Access Point with no problems. Have you tried updating the firmware?

One more thing. Do you have the SSID enabled? I have problems connecting with the ssid broadcast disabled. Enabled thought works like a champ.

I have SSID and Web 128 enabled, the mixed mode does work, but my Axim is loosing connection, and can't reconnect after the device went to stand-by mode.
Kind of sensitive......

I'll have to double-check my SSID broadcast - I think it's enabled.
I have the latest firmware.
Once I connect, it does not drop. And sometimes, I can connect first time, 10X in a row, then it stops connecting.
Very weird. Very frustrating.

I checked, I have SSID broadcast enabled.
I wonder if simply choosing another channel/frequency would change things. Anyone have luck with this?

Since cordless phones use the same set of frequencies, changing the channel can help. Even if you don't have one in your house, your neighbor may have one that's causing interference. The totally separate frequencies are 1, 6, and 11. All the rest overlap to some extent.

I have A01. I tried to apply the latest ROM patch and it says that I already have the latest.
I don't use MAC addressing. Do you folks suggest this?
Also, I might try Channel 11, just to see if another Channel matters.

It depends on the devices present at the location.
Think of wireless phones (I have two Siemens Gigasets, also working at 2.4Ghz), wireless accesspoints in the neigbourhood etc...
I think it's worth making some tests with other channels if you have some connection problems...

do you have the battery saving mode enabled on your Axim? I've sometimes had problems connecting to various access points with the battery saving mode enabled.
