Cannot add new network connection
Hi all,

Since I have been on hold WAITING to speak to Dell Tech Support for the past 2 1/2 hours , I figured I would try to look for someone who would actually know something about the AXIM and found this site. Seems like I am special because I searched and searched and could not find a related post.

I have had my Axim x3i for 3 months or so. Everything was working fine except yesterday I tried to add a new network connection... but I can't. When I go to Settings->Connections, I get the dialog and the text on the bottom says "Please wait ... inspecting device configuration." Now previously that message would disappear and I would get a list of options. I don't get those anymore. Also, in the Advanced Tab -> Select Networks, both the combo boxes are empty. At that point, I cannot exit the dialog and must reset. Also, ActiveSync does not recognize my PPC as anything other than Guest but that might be another problem. Everything else is working fine: the IR port, WiFi, and ActiveSync in the sense that it lets me browse the device and I know those options were there before because I did add a connection a while back and it worked fine.

And in case you are wondering, I DID do a HARD reset but it didn't help.

I am still on hold with Dell but I don't expect that to be very fruitful seeing as I am about to smash the phone into a thousand pieces!!!!! Anyone seen this before?!?!?

Thanks!

I have seen problems somewhat similar and the only solution has been to get a replacement unit. Dell will just tell you to do a hard reset, so when you're describing things to them, explain that you have already tried a hard reset and that did not fix it. If you explain this to them, your request for replacement should be expedited significantly.

Unfortunately that is what I was expecting to hear. Yet, all I have heard is bad elevator music (redundant?) for hours! I have new appreciation for speakerphones!!!

Anyone know the chances that I will get a new device as a replacement or at the very least a refurb that isn't totally beaten up?

Thanks again!

FYI!!!!

Surprisingly it wasn't hardware. The tech had me update my ROM which, honestly, I thought wasn't going to help given that I did a hard reset but guess what... it's FIXED.

Just thought I would post the link in case anyone has similiar problems.

PLEASE NOTE: When I restored my backup, there were problems with some of the apps so keep that in mind.
