Worried Connection using a serial port

Recently the office where I work changed the computers and blocked all the USB ports. Now I can’t connect my PDA or any other device. Does anybody knows if there exists a cable to connect a Dell Axim 3 to a computer using a serial port? If yes…where can I find it?

I do not know of such a cable...just contact your IT department and they'll be happy to set up your computer to sync with your pda. I work in IT and we do it all the time.

I've already try that one...but they just told me to find a serial cable to connect it because they can't do nothing more.

Nope...I saw it and thought it may work but I asked the manufacturer to be sure and they told me it was used only to connect PDA to GPS units...not for connecting it to a computer. Anyway...thank you very much for your help.

Call Dell - last time I was chatting with my Account Rep, he said there was a serial sync cable available. I haven't purchased one yet because I'm waiting for Dell to make up their mind on the WM2003SE upgrade - if I have to purchase a CD I'm going to consolidate to cut the shipping costs - I'm down in Latin America so the shipping can amount to more than the cost of the product.

How about making an IT request at your company to open up your USB ports so that you can hook up your PDA? Or just talk to your manager and explain him the situation so that he can help you make it happen ... :D

I know you can sync via wifi. Does your computer at work have a PC slot of some sort (PCMCIA or PC slot)?
