Mad Odyssey Client

I just recieved my new axim x30 mid, did nothing to it and went into file explorer/my device/programs and there was a little folder called Funk Software. When i open that up it has another folder called Odyssey Client. I don't know what it is or how the hell it got there but i go into remove programs and it aint there. when i try to delete it from file explorer, it gives me an error message telling me i can't. has this happend to anyone else? is it normal for axims to have on it? by the way, oddysey client is some sort of application to check a wireless card and that's about all i know from when i opened it up. please help me remove this stupid program that i don't need!

Funk Odyssey Client is an intergral part of the X30. Yes, it belongs there!

It's actually the WAP/LEAP security program for your WiFi. It's part of the ROM and, to my knowledge, it can't be sucessfully deleted.

Leave it be. :)

Yes, I have Pocket Skye. It runs fantastically!! I've had conversations in a couple of Hotspots as well on my Home WiFi network. The voice quality is even better than a normal land land WAY better than a cell phone.

You've got to give it a try on your Axim-- it'll blow your mind. If you do, look me up! :approve:

I too was wondering about Odyssey. I see it starts up at bootup (in the startup folder) but what I hate is the size. It's taking up 2.16MB in Program Files/funk/Odyssey/ (as mentioned above) AND it's in the Windows directory taking up another 2.16MB.
Does anyone know...

Does it need to be in both places?
Does it need to be in the startup sequence?
Is there an alternative?

It sure is using up a fair chunk of resources.

Mike

Yes, I believe it's in the ROM that you can't, or shouldn't try to delete. What Axim is started, it's also moved to RAM??

It may appear is several places such as RAM or as a shortcut. Don't worry about this.

You may some day have a need for it.
