X3i Synch problem
My X3i will not synch through the cradle. It synchs just fine wirelessly. I've tried troubleshooting per the MS site instructions and gotten nowhere. I sometimes get a message on my PC that says "unable to connect to your mobile device. It is not compatible with the version of MicroSOftActiveSynch currently installed on this desktop computer". The message pop up even though I have reloaded the current version of ActiveSynch from the MS site (V3.7.1). Any ideas, help ?

The usual springs to mind: have you checked for bent pins, fully inserted USB cable, removed fro a hub and used a primary USB port, checked for viruses?

AS is notoriously fragile, it doesn't take much to disable it.

Look on the bottom, at the state of the pins. If any are bent or pushed farther back than others, youre screwed. Do what I'm doing, tell Dell's TS that its not syncing (but for gods sake dont say anything about the state of the pins)

The pins are not damaged, the cable is properly in, and it is plugged directly into the usb port on my PC. The maddening part is that it was working fine not too long ago and then it just quit working right.

if the pins are fine, connect the axim to the cradle and turn it on does activesynch connect? if not, while the axim is in the cradle try pushing the reset button on the back of your axim. My coworker had a synch issue, and pushing the reset button is the only way he was able to have his issue resolved. It has been working fine since.
