Power Button Doesn't Work
I have a X3 Basic right now... Well, someone dropped it into the toilet and it didn't work for a while. Now it does, but it has to be turned on by a different button press and turned off by waiting 30 seconds (automatic power down). But I know there is some response, because after every time I take the battery out for a long time (3+ hours), when I put it back in, I have to press the power button to turn it on (and it hard resets). What is going on? What should I do?

1. DO NOT LEAVE THE BATTERY OUT FOR 3 HOURS!! YOU caused the Hard Reset! The axim needs a constant supply of power whether from a battery or an AC plug. When the Axim runs out of juice it LOOSES everything that wasn't stored in ROM = Hard Reset!

I hate to say this but you need to read your manual. And if you don't have the manual, download a PDF version from Dell's official website. The basics like "don't drop it in water" and "battery power and hard/soft resets" are covered there.

2. How did your Axim wind up dropped in a toliet? You're lucky the thing even works. There's nothing I or anyone else on these boards can do for you as far as the Power Button goes. Sounds like the circuit to the Power Button is fried/corroded but luckily you can turn it on using another button and can turn it off with the automatic shut down.

You can try to send it to PocketPCtechs (I believe that's their name) and see if they can fix it.

Hehee, yeah. I sure lucked out on that one, eh? Well, yeah, I *had* to take the cute little battery out in order to hard reset (the power button doesn't work with the soft reset). I needed to do this 'cuz it wazn't turning on. Ya, um, ok. An interesting thing came out of it all, tho... I'm able to play games nearly twice as well (smoothness, speed, etc) than I was before, and with the exact same settings (memory, processor speed, program versions, resources, etc...) Now I suppose I might keep the thing after all, now that it can almost beat my X30's speed in *every* game..... Gosh what a life. From toilet to blank axim to living axim to broken power button to double gaming speed. Maybe I should do a benchmark with betaplayer, lol...
