My X3 seems very sick...

After several months of not being used, I find that my X3 has taken a turn for the worse. When I went to my "programs" menu nothing was there!

I tried a soft reset... nothing.

and then a hard reset...it asks me to align the screen, then choose a timezone... when done it says congrats you can start using your device. When I go to "tap here to set owner info" the screen flashes to the blue dell logo for 5 seconds and then returns back to the previous screen. The "programs" menu contains nothing.

It seems like the OS has problems... Any suggestions???

TIA

i don't use an x3, so i can't say much about the OS, but i do know that, if left un-used for a long time, the battery drains completely. when this happens, the backup battery is used. once the backup battery is drained, the device looses all of the data in it's volatile memory (i.e. RAM). whatever was on a storage card or in built-in storage should still be there.

sorry to hear what happened...i hope you have a backup!

It was plugged into the charger the entire time, so it is not a battery issue.

When you say that nothing is in your program menu, do you mean absolutely nothing, or nothing but the original programs?

There is nothing in the programs menu...it is a blank screen.

I tried loading Dell's self-diagnostic program into my X3, and all indications are that it loaded successfully, but I can't find it to run it.

Was there any electrical storms or disruptions to your service. Surges bad for electronic devices.

I've never heard of this type of problem - some of the programs should be in firmware and can't just simply be deleted. I'd be getting ahold of Dell customer service.
