Connector broken
Hello,

i just wanted to let u know that my connector is broken. The plastic got loose and some pins are bend. As you have 2 years warranty in germany i have no problems, Dell will send me a new (refurbished?) one.
My brother had the same problem on his a few months ago. Searching the board i found more threads describing this problem.

Seems like this is a real weak point on the x3.

Greetings
Sven

Pins on Axim. Damaged Any Solution?
Hi Sven,
You are right. The pins are weak. My Axim's pins are damaged too. Now I can't connect my Axim X3i to my computer, because the pins are damaged (Pins on the Axim not on the connector). You mentioned that there are other posts on the forum addressing this issue. Can you please point me to the same? Or do you know what I can do if my warranty is out. (have to check on my warranty though). Thanks in advance.
Krishna

I just had this problem today too on my X3i. I'm in the US and tried navigating the Dell site to find out what steps I needed to take to get it repaired/replaced. What a nightmare site! We don't have a Dell store in our area. If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it!

I am currently going through this exact same problem. Unfortunately, the one they sent me to replace it was broken, too. It had a loose part and more closely resembled a rattle than a PDA

Can you tell me what you did to get the replacement? Did you call Dell or go thru their site? I was soooo frustrated with their site so would like to avoid it but certainly don't want to spend a bunch of time on the phone.

I called them. I had to hold for a little while but that is what speaker phone is for. Just to let you know I called yesterday and had the replacement today. Had it not been broken also I would have been running on it this evening. I get to repeat the process tomorrow

Hi Krishna,

try to search the Forum with "broken", "connector" or "pin", so u will find lot's of post. I called Dell, and got through real fast. Only problem was that the guy on the other side of the phone talked a little "strange" german, i just understood half of the words he said But i understood his words "will be replaced" and "send u a new one", this was all i wanted to know
If your out of warranty i guess there is no way to get it repaired for free. You could try to call and ask if they will do, or if they will do for money. No idea what to too if they won't, sorry

Greetings
Sven

Still on warranty? Great!
I called them and told them that the connecter is brocken and i can't sync any more. The guy on the other end mumbled something about to put it VERY carefully into the cradle, and that he will send a new one. A courier will come within an few days and bring along a new one and take the old one. Only the Axim, no Battery, no Stylus, ... only the naked Axim. The next day the courier was there, gave me the new, took the old, was very interested in "..such a small computer, what can u do with it?..." Talked a few senteces and left.
U'll get a refurbished one, also urs will be refurbished and will get a new life So be sure to erase all data, also the build in. The one i got for replacement had still some data in the internal!

HTH,
Greetings
Sven

Mine bent also but we have some stuff that breaks all the time in the Army so I just used a screwdriver and slowly bent them back in place

I recently had a replacement X30 due to damaged pins. I did have to get involved in a bit of a ruck though as Dell insist that this damage is outside the scope of the warranty. It took a few calls to them and one to trading standards here in the UK to get anywhere. The replacement X30 seems to have a more robust connector.
