Alarm Icon in lower right of screen? (need help)
The lower right corner of my X3i screen has the alarm icon and it won't go away. I believe this is related to another HW issue I'm challenged with.

Here's some facts I can report. I appreciate any feedback for resolution or similar occurances with other users.

I've been having a frequent, yet unrepeatable issue with the screen not responding. In some cases, when I turn on the device, the screen does not respond, however if I press any of the buttons, they will work.

When the device is in this state, the Power Settings screen ALWAYS shows the following:
Main Battery status = "Detecting"
Backup Battery status = "Detecting"

It also appears that the device will not connect to Active Sync when it is in this state.

Is this potentially a problem with the battery? I have a spare battery and this has happened with both batteries, so I'm inclined to believe it is some other cause.

A soft reset does not appear to resolve the issue. Sometimes, simply leaving the device powered on for a long time will return the device to a normal operating state.

So, back to the Alert Icon in the lower right. I've seen this before and the icon will go away if you tap on it. However today, the Alert Icon is there and it won't go away.

Couldn't find anything like this in searching the forums so, this is a puzzler. Hope to come to a resolution before calling Dell.

thanks

ewww...sounds bad...might it be your backup battery? i have an x50, but i heard that in the x30s, you can change that battery yourself (like a watch battery). that alarm icon is most likely a warning that your backup battery is low.

i'd try replacing the backup battery to see if that fixes it.

I'm getting the exact same thing on mine which happens to be a refurbished replacement. My call to DELL support "outsourced" me & their only resolution was to send me another one.

I have this happen when an alert comes up from Pocket Informant and somehow
it goes to the background and it won't come to the front. The only way
I've been able to get rid of it is to do a soft reset and watch the screen
as it reboots, as soon as the reminder comes up click dismiss, and all is
well. Not the perfect answer, but it works. If you come up with anything
better, please share.
