Question Syncronisation Problems

My Axim 3i connects OK but will no longer syncronise fully using active sync and winXP. Can anyone tell me the usual reason for this please?

it is hard to say for your short discription but it might be that you have the sync with exchange server box ticked. Check it in Tools -> Options -> down the buttom under "sync" there is a check box. I think you need the device connected to edit it. You may beed to uncheck this box all the items which are not sync-ing properly

Cheers

Hi Adrian, I have looked in tools > options on the PC and the PPC and I don't see a check box as you describe.

What version of active sync are you using? 3.8.0 is available now from the Mircosoft web site. I suggest getting it if you have not already.

You should also check all the other options in active sync... look at the schedual and make sure it is set to "contineous" or "when i connect" and not to a specific date and time or once a day or something like that.

Also in the last tab make sure nothing is strange in the conflict box or anything.

Let me know how you go
Adrian

PS. Welcome to axim site :):):)

I have version 3.8.0.
Tools > options only shows one tab showing:
Conflict Resolution
File conversion
Pass Through
Where are the settings you are telling me about?

Tools -> Rules -> Desktop = Leave Unresolved
Tools -> Schedule -> Desktop Schedule = Continuously
Tools -> Sync Options -> Server = unchecked

Tools -> Sync Options -> Desktop = check the items you want to sync and for each select "Settings" for advance management

If you installed XP Service Pack 2 recently you might need to unblock Active Sync from the firewall --> Control Panel -> Security Center -> Windows Firewall

Cheers
Adrian

I checked all those settings and they were correct so I have reinstalled active sync yet again and it has worked this time. Thanks for your help.

Cool, sorry we never worked out what the real problem was. I think uninstall/re-install was the best thing invented for PC ;)
