X3i stuck on "DELL" screen
The Ax had been acting strange for a while now. Not synching, locking up randomly, text was wacky etc. So finally I decided to reset it. Pushed power and the button on the back then went through the setup.

The fonts were still goofy when it was back up and running, so I soft reset it. Now its dead! It wont get past the blue screen, no matter how many times I hard reset. When the two side buttons are pressed it asks me to tap the screen. Nothing happens.

Im not really savvy with the other ways to reset it (if there are any). From what Ive seen there is;

Soft- button on the back
Hard- button on the back + button on front top
Setup?- both side buttons

Is there any other way to reset this thing. I hope its not destroyed!!!

Remove the battery, let it sit for 1-2 minutes reinsert and try the hard reset again.

How old is the device? Usually battery last 300-500 cycles or approx 2-3 years. If the unit is in the cradle and get constant charge there is no reasons for being slow. Try it in the cradle without the battery in to see if it change the speed of the unit.

Well suddenly its working like a champ....minus 2 issues.

1)The backup battery continually says its dead though the main battery is supposedly full. What does this mean?

2)No way, no how can i get the synch to stay synched. I have to keep soft reseting it to get a connection, then 20 seconds into it, the damn thing drops the connection and says its the wrong version of sync.

Hi!

1)Maybe the internal battery needs to be replaced. I would try this, remove the main battery and start the unit to drain the backup battery (even if it doesn't start it will drain it in about 30 minutes.) Recharge to see if the backup battery is working better. I also recommand to drain the main batttery as well if you have never done this before.

2) May as well remove ActiveSync from your PC ans start fresh with a new installation of Version 3.8.

Hope this help solve your problems.

I didnt realize there was a way to replace the internal battery. I will drain them regardless as you said. It wont drop the OS or anything silly will it?

As far as ActiveSync is concerned.... I have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled about 100x so that isnt the issue

There isn't a way to replace the internal battery, but letting it discharge completely and then recharge may reset the reading you are getting that it is dead. All this will do is the equivilent of a hard reset.

Everything is drained. Whats the proper proceedure for recharging everything? Charge the internal first on the cradle, then put in the main battery or just throw them both in there?

Shouldnt it come back to "setup" screen when it starts charging?
