Glad you finally found a workaround.
Of course the "bootloader" trick is unofficial :rolling:!
(Probably because of the MS efforts of binding the software strict to the hardware. Like it will come with beautiful MS "VISTA". Thanks to Bill!)
But are you sure that there is really no way, no tool to get access to the win mobile backup?
What about the the backup program that comes with XP professional or some MS tools?
Anyway since I use my PDAs mostly for reading and sometimes movies I didn't have any experience about that backup story. And for the future I will walk miles around that for sure:approve: .
You are right about the DELL service. Here in Europe they are from the technical side incompetend to say the least(for the records: I know it only for their PDA section).
The only positive thing that I can say about them is that they replaced my first X3 althoug I broke the LCD by myself.
My X51v was replaced too because of the Accu panel switch. They send a complete new one and so I became a newer revision an a new Accu.

I just send the old things back.
This is the revenge for my X3 disaster(they didn't say a word about the necessity to make yourself a ROM backup althoug they provide the tools to do that.
This is like throwing your PC out of the window because your win installation is buggy and your installation CD/DVD is broken!:rolling:
In fact when your Axim model gets an upgrade ROM from DELL you can use the image in there as a backup ROM and load it with the boodloader. But when there is no upgrade for your model type from DELL you can only peeve strangers in forums......or buy a new one.
Just unbelievable that crap like that finds its way to the marked.
....probably there are too many products or services offered today that have a broken link in the chain of responsibility.....
One last question:
What exact types of the Axim PDAs do you have now?
X3 ,X3i or X30 do they have bluetooth and WLAN?
Do you sell both Axims?
Thanks!
