Can't connect through cradle: critical error 608
Suddenly a few days ago I had an error messege pop up while syncing. "Cannot start communications with the desktop computer. Remote Networking could not start due to a critical error (Error 608) Please reconnect your device. I the problem persists, restart your device using the instructions provided by the manufacturer."

I did a hard reset and got stuck on the dell screen for hours.

I took out the battery and let the backup drain for 2 days and suddenly it worked.

I tried to get the A01 ROM update and in the middle of the process I got the same old error (error 608). After repeating the above process, it will not connect at all. It just shows error 608. Tech support was no help (of course). I don't know what to do anymore someone please help!

Any warranty left on it? if so send it back. Are there any bent pins on the connector?

There is no more warranty and all of the pins look good. I'm still chatting here and there with tech support, but I doubt anyting will come of it. They are supposed to call me again in 2 days. If nothing is resolved, I was thinking of flashing a new ROM via an sd card...would this even help?

I have, but the device is stuck at the moment and I'm waiting for the backup battery to completely discharge. I don't really get why it takes so long for it to discharge. I tried just leaving it for an hour or two, but it only worked when I left it for a weekend.

I got sick of waiting for correspondence for dell tech support (didn't really think they would call anyway) and went for updating my ROM to A02 via an sd card. Now it's working great. I'm very excited because I was starting to give up hope and think about how much I could get for the parts. This method was awesome. check it out if you are having the same problem the thread is called "Flash Rom from SD card".
