Is my Axim DEAD? -backup battery won't charge
Hi newbie here,
Seen this question posted before at numerous forums, but haven't seen a fix or resolution to it.

My Axim X3i was working perfectly, until I stopped using it for a month of so. The power was obviously completely drained and after charging it up again, I kept getting the "backup battery low" message. Battery status was showing "abnormal". Charged for 2-3 days and still showing 0% charged. Is my Axim dead? It's hardly been used. Sad thing is it's out of warranty.

Can the battery be replaced? Tried one of the rom updates, think A02, but didn't help. Left it charging for couple days and nothing. Just more or less want to know if I can replace the battery myself or is this thing toast. Dell refused to help me since out of warranty.

Would appreciate any help or advice.
thanks

I know this is stating the obvious, but did you leave your axim powered on? Double check to make sure it doesnt auto turn off. because the backup battery can only be charged when the axim is turned on.

When you received a new Axim, to charge the backup battery, you place the axim in the cradle, turn it on to initiate the backup battery to charge and let is shut down on its own. After a few hours the backup and main batteries should be charged. If not, call Dell if it is still under warranty or you can have it replace at a PPCTech place. Look at this link

thanks for the reply
Not sure if mine came with a cradle. I've alwayse used an ac adapter pluggged straight in. Not sure where my cradle is. Will look for it.

Does it have to be charged with the cradle, to recharge the backup battery. Can't I just use the ac adapter?
