SD card causes x3i to lock up
I had a problem that plauged me for some time and I fixed today and thought I might post the sorted tale that someone else might benifit.
I had removed one of my SD cards from my x3i right before a trip to copy some shrunkin DVD files to it for the plane ride. The copy went fine, then I put the card back in the Axim and the unit would lock up hard. No response from the screen taps, manual buttons or anything. A soft reset just hung on the Dell splash screen. I tried several cards (that had worked fine previously) and they all did the same thing. I thought my Axim bit the big one.
After trying everything I could, installed all the latest patches, hard reset, etc. I cracked open the case and immediatly saw the problem. A small bit of foil, 3mm square, had worked it's way into the SD card slots spring contacts and shorted 2 of them together. I could not see the foil from the slot entrance because it was parallel to the walls of the slot. Once I removed it and reassembled the thing it all worked great.
The foil bit seems to be a bit of trash that must have been in my pocket and worked it's way into the slot.

Moral of the story, never carry out the Trash in your Pocket, always use a Trash can
