Bent Pins...
Hey all, I've searched quite a bit on bent pins and basically am wondering if there is any resolution for my problem.

Just like many other people, a small black plastic piece has fallen out of my axim, and 3 pins have become bent. I contacted dell last night and recieved an email this morning stating:

"The standard warranty on the Dell Axim handheld does not cover physical
damage.

Unfortunately, due to the complex nature of the Axim, the product is not
field serviceable. The only option is to replace the Axim handheld unit.

We do have an out of warranty replacement service available.

The Out of Warranty Department can be reached via phone at 800-288-4410.
They will be able to provide you with a quote for replacing the Axim.

Thank you for choosing Dell."

Does anyone know what the resolutionw ould be, or how much they will quote me for a new unit?

I bought my Axim X30H refurbished about 5 months ago (after christmas), and it says it still has 201 days left under warranty. Any ideas?

I remember a member here who had the same problem. He/She instead wrote dell saying it is there fault the units were poorly made, and that their units dissapointed them. Then the same person recieved a replacment with a different connector or something. Maybe you should try a different represenative, and see if you could get it replaced. Just tell them it is their fault and that you are not satisfied with their unit. Make sure you write it professionally to.

My unit was replaced twice for the record.....

You could buy one of these sync connectors at http://www.pdasmart.com/products/AX3...tscenterx3.htm and try soldering it in place, if you feel lucky or send your pda in and let them do it.

PPCTechs.com also does repairs for this. Worth checking them out as well.

Just placed order w/ pdasmart.com.

Todd, I don't know where you found these guys at, but I for one appreciate your posting their info. I too have bent my pins on my X3 (a while back), and my warrenty ran out also. Dell told me "too bad, so sad", they'd do an exchange for me PLUS $200. I figuered I needed to upgrade anyway, and got my X50v. Now, I can repair this unit, and sell in on e-bay, or give it to someone in my family to use; either way, I can restore the unit to operation.

Thanks again!
