Mad So I'm a dummy

I have an X3 and want to connect to the internet directly via ethernet. You know, plug and play as they say. I've a dongle with the plug insert to go into the bottom of the X3 and an ethernet plug recepticle on the other. I plug the ethernet cable into the Axim and it just looks at me doing nothing. Obviously I'm doing something wrong but I don't know what it is. Dell tells me to go to wwww.socket.com, but they aren't correct, it's actually socketcom.com. So, whatt'a I do?????

Welcome to Aximsite!

The only way you can access the Internet with your X3 via ethernet is to use an SD ethernet card. Unfortunately, I don't think they exist. Do you mean wifi?

Sounds like it's the serial cable/ethernet hookup. They talked about this in the forums a looooooooong time ago. Here's a link.

I used to have an old CF Ethernet card, but haven't even seen a CF card for this for some time. Tried downloading the drivers for it a little while ago. What a nightmare. Can't imagine an SD! Too bad the X3 doesn't have a CF port, like my X50

Thanks to all, unless somebody has another idea on how to connect ethernet wise, I guess I'll look for a cheape dial-up connection. I'm currently using a Comcast Broadband High Speed, I'm certain Comcast has one, or ATT&T. :rolling:

Somewhere on this site I saw some Pre?????? gizmos that looked interesting, I'll check them out.

If anyone hears of a connection goodie, I'd certainly appreciate a shout back.

Thanks, R/MLB

Attaches to the bottom?

I'm not familiar with this ethernet connection, however, I have heard of companies offering a connection to allow you to sync over the network. Before giving it up too quickly, how about a little more information about the accessory? Do you know the name of it, or the manufacturer. If you can sync over the network, I don't see why you couldn't use it to browse the web.

Hopefully we can be a bit more helpful. How about just a bit more information?

Thanks!!

Comcast does not have a dialup. I use budget dialup. It a prepay and it works very well. First class service.
