I have a friend with a dell axim x3i, he's been using it for about a year now and all of a sudden his screen starts showing dark spots on the screen, he thinks its screen burn in but hes not sure, does anyone else have this problem

That's not burn-in. That looks like physical damage. It'll need to be repaired/replaced.
