How to establish new partnership using IR port X3i
Hi All,

I've been trying to establish a new partnership to my laptop using the IR PORT.

I've tried several times unsucessfully.

Has anyone been able to establish a "new" partnership thru the ir port?

I have a fully reseted axim x3i with broken and bent pins. So I cannot establish a "new" partnership using the cable.

Has anyone been successful?

Yep. Not with an X3 specifically but with various other PPCs. How far are you getting?

I am doing the following;

1) I installed a usb ir port adapter to my laptop without any problems. Windows xp recognizes ir adapter fine.
2) Install Activesync 3.8
3) Activesync prompts to "Get Connected" and active sync indicates IR PORT is available however, the device is not connected.

I don't know why my pda is not being recognized?

I had same problem with bent pins and set up a partnership via IR. Not without some difficulty, but I got there eventually. Try tweaking the options in activesync. In PC Synchronization use this PC is the name of your PC selected?. Click on options again in this window is USB default selected?

On the X3/X3i,
Go to Programs>ActiveSync. Then select Tools>Connect via IR...

That did it for me instantly.
