How do I discover the MAC address
of my wireless adapter on the axim x3?

We use MAC address filtering on our WLAN and I need to be able to have my axims wireless adapter added to the list.

thx

using your path ...

start=>settings => connections => I lose it here..
I do NOT have a dell WLAN utlity, or network troubleshooting->advanced

what I have is the following

start -> settings -> connections(bottom tab) -> (beam/connections/wireless ethernet) choosing wireless ethernet ->
put me in configure network adapters, I choose

Dell TM2100 WLAN module

I can now set it to static or leave it at dynamic same for name servers.

any suggestions?

According to Dell's website, if you have the X3i (the version with wireless built in), you should have a Dell WLAN utility where Alan described.

If you are doing this on a home router, temporarily disable MAC filtering and connect to the network. Most routers show a list of connected devices with their MAC address. If you have problems finding the list, post the brand/model of your router and someone will let you know how.

Hm I have something in there called a WIRELESS ETHERNET adapter

but no dell utility, under system info .. it reads
Dell Axim X3
400MHZ proc
64/64 ram/rom A01'

so no I on the X3, it still has a wireless ethernet builtin according to connections and the advertisement for it, when i bought it .... unless anyone can give me a differeing opinion, on that.

I'm not sure the system info shows the 'I.' Does it have a bump on top of the device? All the wireless versions have it, the X3s without wireless do not.

I'm not sure if it will have any impact on your problem, but you might try upgrading the ROM. I see you are still on A01 and I'm sure there are later version on Dell's site. If you do this, be sure to follow the directions exactly and realize this involves a hard reset so all your programs and files will be cleared. Do a backup before running the upgrade or just reinstall everything afterwords.

As for the MAC address, did you try to find it on your router like I suggested?
