Display locked on "Start" menu--please help!!
Hi, longtime lurker here. I've got a very frustrating problem that I haven't seen anyone else talk about, and I hope you guys can help.

The display on my X30 high freezes after about 45 min to 1 hour of use, and the "Start" menu flips up continually. I can't click on anything else. It's as if something is triggering the "Start" menu, but I can't think what it could be. I've never had a screen protector, and the problem occurs no matter what program I'm running. Once it shows up, the problem doesn't go away until I synch the X30 to my computer....but then it comes back again. *Sigh*

I've done multiple soft resets, and last night I did a hard reset, with no luck. The processor speed is set on "Auto", also. (Oh, and I've tried taking the battery out and waiting 20-30 seconds also. No luck.)

I've had the unit slightly more than one year, so it's off warranty (of course). At this point, I'm completely out of ideas, so I'd appreciate any suggestions. Please, please help!!

Try cleaning under the edges of the screen, use a business card and run it along the screen under the edges of the plastic casing.

Thanks for your suggestion! It did seem to help a little bit (the screen's not frozen anymore, but the "Start" menu still pops up every so often). If the problem is too much pressure on the screen, maybe I could try loosening the screws in the back a little? (I read somewhere on this forum that it sometimes helps.)

Or, would that damage the unit?

I don't think it will damage the unit, and you said you are already beyond the warrantee, so give it a try.
Do some searching here for stuff about the screen or touch screen and see if you can find more suggestions, I think there are a couple of other ideas to try.
