After restore with Sprite soft reset turns to hard reset

I have restored my handheld thru Sprite 3 times now and after it is fully restored and I do a soft reset, it hard resets.

Back to the screen alignment and everything is wiped out.

I have no clue what I am doing wrong or if it is a handheld issue. Doing this on an X3 400. Sprite version is the latest.

I'd prefer using Sprite for what I bought it for rather than spending hours reinstalling everything. As of right now, I'm not too pleased with Sprite.

I have read several posts regarding Sprite procedures and I am doing everything that I should, as far as i can tell. Like I said once it is fully backed up and I sync with the desktop, I take it out of the cradle and do a soft reset and ~BAM~ all gone again!

Would love your help, Thanks!

If you are trying to use Sprite with WM5, others have told me it's not compatible and that may be the problem.

Are you manually performing the soft reset because when I use Sprite all I have to do is click OK at the end and it soft resets itself.

I hit the ok to do the reset after the restore and its all up and fine. No problem. On the next soft reset, it turns to a hard reset and everything is gone. It goes directly to the screen alignment. All Data is lost.

So the second soft-reset is not part of the backup process?
It just happens to be that the next time you perform a soft-reset -- this occurs.......
:headscrat

Are you sure that Sprite is even involved?
What if you do 3 soft-resets in a row without Sprite being involved? Any hard resets then?

Yes your first question is correct.
I have tried three soft resets in a row without restoring and no problem. As soon as I restore, And do a soft reset on my own, that's when it loses everything. I'm not sure if Sprite is involved. All I know is I can't keep the restore on the handheld.

Any other thoughts?

The Solution...

Ok so I finally got the problem solved. :approve:

First, Delete the partnership in Activesync
Run Sprite Software and remove all components from the desktop
Next, Connect the PPC thru activesync via a Guest partnership
Then, Load Sprite onto the PPC
Run Sprite on the PPC and keep it in the trail mode (do not enter in the registration code)
Run the restore

Good to go! :approve:

Thru trial and error I came up with that solution and it did the trick. Not sure if others do it this way but at least I got it going again. After the restore all registration codes were in place and runs great!
