Worried Loosing Data!

How many days can an x30 go without being plugged in?
I have been reading threads about x50's loosing all their data if they are not plugged in because they are never really off, and all the data is in RAM. Is this true of an x30 as well? Is there any way to keep data from Outlook and other applications on hard memory so that it is not completely lost if the battery runs down?

Thanks,

Yes. If your main battery and the backup battery both are drained then you'll lose all the data stored in main memory of your X30.

good way to bring back all the data in this situation is to use a backup utility and restore from a previously made backup file. I'd recommend sprite backup.

Thanks,
I asked a similar question when I first got my Axim X30, it's here.

As akheron mentions, backups are essential. The built in Dell application will allow you to back up everything or just Outlook stuff and you can place the backup on your memory card - which means that it will not be lost in the event of a hard or soft reset. It's not a bad idea to make a backup daily, too.

Most of your Outlook data should be in Outlook on your Desktop version - but if you have a disaster and no backup you should tell Activesync to 'Always replace items on my device' (options>rules')so that everything will be written back to your Axim. Once all is back where it should be, it's a good idea to open Activesync once more and change the setting back to 'Always replace items on this computer' - so that any changes you make while 'on the road' get recorded within the desktop version of Outlook.

You can also get Activesync to create a full backup of your Axim on your desk/laptop.

For more flexibilty, again as akheron says, Sprite backup is highly rated by all those who use it - and I'm going to get it soon, too.

Alex.
