I've damaged my x30 and the warranty ended Dec 29.
Dell said they don't repair out of warranty. No physical damage I can see but just vertical lines of color on the screen. Where can I get it repaired?

I described my problem to the folks at pocketpctechs and this was the reply;

I also went to the dell outlet and checked the refurbished inventory.

I have not gotten mine fixed yet, still thinkin.....
but since i use it constantly, I did pick up a refurbished one (from dell) while on sale, it carries the same 1 year warrenty.

I had the same problem. Actually a friend of mine had a problem with her x30. After trying all of "the known problem fixes" as described on this site, I determined that she indeed needed a new LCD. Before sending your system off to someone else to repair try looking on **cough, cough, clearing throat** eBay for a cheap x3 basic. I found one shipped for $75. Half the price of the repair quote. It was simple to replace and my friend has a "new feeling" x30H. AND... Just my 2 cents.


BTW... I got to take a look at the LCD. There was a hairline crack in the glass (not the digitizer) surrounding the LCD screen. I think that probably caused the lines. Just for kicks I taped it up a little with electrical tape and the screen attempted to work i.e. less line activity and you could actually see something like an image behind all of the screen noise. I'm sure someone on this site who is more mechanically inclined than I can figure out what to do with the screen.

Thanks for replied , I just found out i still got 47 days left for warranty , so i called Dell tech support i told them my PDA whats went wrong with the vertical line . ALL HE SAID THAT HE SEND ME THE NEW ONE for replacement, look like i have extend the warranty now just for be safe .

if your X30 is damaged, and it's just the screen... buy a damaged one off ebay, and use that screen... just make certain it's the screen that you need, and that the screen of the damaged one is good/decent. I fixed my g/f's x30, it was easy!

just wondering could you switch a x5 digitizer with a x3's my x5 has two sratches on it and one makes is so I cant type in the key 3 on my small sized keyboard the rest of the screen works just fin though really like some help please

www.Pocketpctechs.com I called them first and discussed my x30's symptoms. Mine wasnt worth trying to save. I got the screen lines and various other screens but the OS wouldn't load. I think it got fried when I used a generic battery in it with my car charger. Good luck
