Hi,
I bought an SD-card with 2 GB MyFlash A-data, 150X-speed.
The Axim can read from the card with great preformance. Tomtom navigator and Pocketmusic runs multitasking at a glance.
The problem is that the Axim can not write anything on the card, witch Tomtom does when saving route-info, favorites and more.
I´ve tried to create a folder/rename files on the card via explorer, but it just says that it´s writeprotected or file may be in use. I also tried to reformat it in bouth FAT and FAT32.
Other 1GB cards works fine, but I hate to have more then one card, and to copy Tomtom-settings between them every time I switch card...
This 2GB card works without any problems in a PC, and in an old HP Ipaq 4150.
Dells support told me to upgrade to latest Bios, and fixes. But I already have them om my device (A06). Then they told me that they only garanti 1GB cards...
Man I just upgraded to A06 does that mean that you can't use 2 GB cards with A06?

Do we really need 2gb of storage on one card? I had over 300 novels, tech manuals, and documents on my, several dozen photos, tv shows, Several dozen songs... and I hadn't used but a 1/3 of a 1gb card... It was unecessary to store that much too...
It depends on the qualiyt. Tomtom uses about 260MB with addons. Normally one audiobook is between 300-1200 MB´s in MP3-format (5-20 CD´s). Sweden is a rather large contry If you sit in your car for one week you may want to carry more then one audio-book at the time.
And sice it works fine with Bios A05 (I have A06), I would like to downgrade it.
Does anyone know how ? (to get around the downgrade-errormessage).
Would it be possible to backup ROM from another Axim x30 and restore it on my device?
You can find the ao2 and the A05 from the Dell downloads section but I am afraid that you can not down grade and if you find a perfect way to do so please let me know.
akheron,
Please read the first post in this thread.
It´s not write-protected (it works fine in other PPC´s)
I tried bouth FAT and FAT32.
I now also tryed to backup ROM from an other Axim X30 with bios A05, but It´s not possible to restore that ROM on my device.
Dells support does not seem to know what to do, they told me that they are searching sullutions i different forums on the Internet. (Im not impressed).
The problem with my device does not seem to be the bios-version, it´s just a mater of bad connection in the SD card reader. It´s just about 5month old so I hope that Dell will fix it within warranty-time. Probably have switched card one time to many, and just stopped workeing when i got the 2GB-card (can´t se any error on it...)
But we can learn something new here
I now got a sullution from Dell support how to downgrade:
1. Copy the image file (*.nb0) to one SD card root directory.
(P16A_A_C10070400EN.nb0 for Combo, P16A_A_N10070400EN.nb0 for non-Combo).
2. Insert that SD card into PDA
3. Hold "Jog dial Action" + "Contact" + "Reset" simultaneously. Release "Reset" and hold the other two buttons until system comes up with a sound and a screen for SD Update Mode.
4. Wait till reflash completes.
(I don´t know what nb0 is, but the img-file worked fine for me)
