I can't believe it. As of two days ago, I was able to turn on my X30 high with no problem using it perfectly. Now, as of yesterday, the bloody unit won't turn on. Tried a soft reset and a hard reset... no go.
CAN ANYONE HELP? I use this wonderful machine everyday.... it's my life line. :(

No actually, I tried charging it with my retractable cable. I'll remove the battery today and try it again late tonight. I'll let you know what I find out. Thanks for your advice!

Ok, I have it in the cradle now and it's charging ... it took a while but the display turned on again once I did a hard reset. Do you have any idea what's causing this?

Glad it's working. It may have been caused by a software conflict, memory errors, etc...hard to say...Did you install something new recently? Are you managing your memory well?
your retractable cable cant supply enough current when the battery gets lower than around 50% because its a usb device and your computer usb port only supplies about 200mamps of current a powered usb hub can supply 500mamps of current but the axim ac charger supplies 2400mamps of current which is required to charge a nearly flat battery so your cable doesnt have the right specifications for an axim battery

Wow.... now that's something I did not know. I wanted to replace the desktop charger but it's painfully obvious that's not possible. Thank you so much for your information. :)

You know, I've installed quite a few things on it but mostly to the Card. Since the hard reset, I'm taking a look at different Task Bar Managers/Today Screen Plugins as I understand there are some that cause a serious conflict. I'm very new to the Windows 2003 platform having coming from years of Palm experience. Do you have any suggestions for the Today's screen plugin(s) that cause the least amount of conflict?

I have a similar problem. Battery will not charge in the unit, had to remove it and charge it in the cradle alone. I think I may havea sync port (or whatever it is called) problem.
I was able to sync but still loses power in the cradle. Probably have to get the device serviced. Any other thoughts.
Amy, yes checked the connections, changed the outlet, just in case with the same result. This is when I looked into the port with a glass and saw several bent pins on the right side. Thanks for the welcome!
Kelly, I think mine is out of warranty too. But my company has a "relationship" with Dell. So I am hoping for a positive result.
Awlheart, if you search the forums on fixing bent pins you'll find several posts. There was a recent one where a guy had some very good instructions for replacing the pins with plain wire. PocketPCTechs also can fix this, but I think it costs around $60. The pins on my X30 became bent and it would charge, but couldn't maintain the syncing connection. Luckily it was within warranty.
My power switch doesn't work that well. Turning the x30 on, even seconds after turning it off, requires me to remove and replace the battery. It's hard to live with sometimes. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might fix this problem. For the record, it's not dimming, it's shutting off then not coming back on.
