Axim Freezes every 20-30 minutes!

My axim freezes like every 20-30 minutes. When it freezes, a soft reset won't solve anything. The axim just freezes when the blue Dell screen comes on. Only a hard reset will get the unit functioning again... and only for another short period of time.

I've updated the software, but it didn't solve anything. I've taken all my installed programs off, and it hasn't helped.

I spoke with Dell customer support... but they were of no help. Basically, i'd always been told Dell support was unhelpful, now they proved it. No suggestions at all, they just said, well you have a memory problem. Sorry we can't do anything. Unfortunately my Axim is about 6 mos out of warranty so now they won't do anything... they pretended to be helpful and had me call the out of warranty exchange number... where they told me they'd exchange it. I thought "GREAT, maybe Dell will come through". Then they told me it'd cost me 230 bucks.

I don't think I want to dump another 230 bucks into a refurbished X30. As a last resort, I thought I'd check here and see if anyone could help... anyone have any ideas?

Historically I've had good experiences with Dell... but this one is a little frustrating. I don't know if thing is dead (in which case I expected a better product from Dell), or if it might be able to be repaired etc.

Mine did that for a while, until i found the SD card was failing. Swapped for another card and it works great now :)

Unfortunately I've tried that. I've got 2 SD cards... it does it with both of them in... and with none of them in! :(

Does it happen even with a hard reset and no cards in it?

Yes, it happens every time whether there are cards in it or not. Every time it freezes, it requires a hard reset! I've tried using it with/without cards... I've tried updating rom, I've tried removing all extra applications I had installed etc. Nothing seems to fix this. Pretty much the unit has been rendered useless... I can't do hard resets every 30 minutes all day long!!!

I can't imagine how frustrating it can be. I am sorry to hear that your are going thru that but hang in there, I am sure someone has encounter those symptoms before and will respond - just give it time.

I wish I had better news.

Your screen needs adjustment

If you have a screen protector, take it off. The sensitivity of your screen needs adjustment. Forget about Dell. Try Pocketpctech.com. I have 40 units that my people at work use. I just had one repaired for the same thing. They fixed it for $45.
