Wireless won't enable
When I try to enable wireless on my X30 a window pops up saying "Unrecongnized Card" "Enter the name of the device driver for this card. For information, see the card manufacturer's documentation." It also so has a dialog input box with "Unknown card in Socket 1"

It was all working fine about a week ago.

Hardreset also fails?

Looks like you have the wrong ROM flashed or even a corrupted ROM.

Try to use your original backup ROM.
If you have none search for upgrades for your model.
If there is no update ROM for you model you have to bug strangers!
If there is no stranger throw your PDA at DELL!

Man! Suddenly all these people with ROM problems. Or were there always so many?

Seems like the AXIMs have a feature called "expiration date".

I have tried;

1) Hardreset - didn't work
2) Flashed new ROM - also didn't work

Does this indicate that the wireless might be broken?

If you flashed the correct ROM for your X30 and it doesn't work???

The upgrade you flashed was a full and complete ROM ?
I remember that the complete package fom the DELL site comes about 16MB or so?

So when there is no bug in sofware the only left is hadware.....

Did you drop it?

Probably you are out of guarantee??

You can try to open the PDA an have a look inside.

Look at the WLAN modul and the cables.

I am having this exact issue, I had a little repair done to my Axim X30 due to my stupidity of dropping it. The wifi worked fine prior. I have the exact same issue as you do. I am not sure if the repair may have caused this issue, I do not think so but I have not been able to connect to my home network. In the past soon as I enabled the wireless feature it would detect the networks in range, I would select mine and conect by adding my wap key. Now this does not happen at all. Have you solved your issue. If so can you post how?

My rom is A06 (05130500EN) How would I reflash the rom?

Might be a consipiracy to force us to throw away our cherished X30s and buy X51s...

Anyway, I would definitely try and flash that baby over again through the SD flash method. Download the Axim update (or previous update) drag the right ROM image to your SD card, insert the SD card into your Axim and then press the Contact button and the jog button (press it inside, not bottom or up) then press the reset button. Note you must do this all at once in order for it to work. A real pain isn't it?

Well I downloaded the latest A06 flashrom update from Dell. ONce I extraced it to a folder I notice there are 2 rom images the same size.

Here is 1 rom image : P16A_NK_C_05130500EN.IMG the other one has a _N_ not C. Which of the 2 to use? I just used the C version via the SC method, no luck still getting unrecognized card in socket. Can I flash back to A05?? Then reflash to A06 because when I try via the sync cable I can not reflash with A06 since that is what is on unit already

Well I see you can not downgrade the rom via sync cable. When I attempted the method via SD card nothing appeared to happen when I pressed the contact button. jog dial in and the reset button. I performed it again while unit was powered on but I am still getting the unknown card in socket issue, grrr bout ready to throw it against the wall lol
