WiFi problems using axim x30 with AMD Athlon 64

For reasons that would take a while to explain, I found it necessary to abandon my 6 year old Pentium 4 computer and replaced it with a new AMD 64 3GHz machine running WXP. For a variety of reasons my duly executed backup of my PDA did not install everything (who knows why, and at this point it is unimportant). So, I installed ActiveSync 3.8 and have been reloading my various programs including Cirond (for finding WI FI and helping to connect to them). Now, when I try to use the axim upstairs to cerf wirelessly as I used to do, I cannot stay connected to my router (that never gave me any trouble before) the other computers in the house all work fine getting on the net etc....The Cirond program doesnt seem to help much any more even after soft resets, hard resets, going through the various configuration tutorials by IkeHiker et al...... So, does anyone have any experience with a similar situation? TIA
