Hello,

I have the X30 mid/combo (wi-fi and bluetooth) running the latest French ROM. I would like to upgrade it to the latest English version of the ROM.

I read about two options on the Aximsite forums but also read about problems with both:

1. I could follow the steps for modifying the English ROM by copying the first 7 lines from the French one, but someone said that it complains about having the latest French ROM and not performing the upgrade.

2. I also read about the SD card upgrade process by taking that same modified English ROM and placing it on the SD card. Then I need to hard-reset the Axim (Scroll-down + Contacts + Power + Reset). However, I understand that on the Axim X30, it comes back up waiting for a USB connection instead of trying to boot from the SD card.

3. I also read about changing the dictionary and wanted to know if it will only modify the dictionary for spelling, or does it actually change the GUI language? If it will change the GUI language, can someone summarize the correct way of changing the language?


Does anyone have a definitive way of performing this language change? Is there either an alternate key-combo that will boot the X30 from a SD card, or a way to change the language despite having the latest OS of the current language?
