Growing memory

I have recently noticed that my program memory is growing despite the fact that I have not added any new programs. My IGuidance recently balked at the shortage of memory. I have gone through all my files and can't find the culprit. I did find a lot of old message replies in the Windows messaging folder, but it only totaled a couple of megs. I am currently showing 41 out of 45 MB in use, but can't account for all of it. Is there any way to perform a defrag on the X30? (or locate the mystery memory). Note: I have a separate SD card for the maps and music files.:rolling:

How many programs do you have running? To find out, go to settings, system (tab), memory, running programs (tab). Stop those you aren't currently using and see what happens.

Remember, clicking the "X" only minimizes a program, unless you have a 3rd party program that changes the behavior of the X.

You are short on storage memory, or RAM?

MemMaid does a good job of showing you both. It will show you exactly how much each dir/file is taking up on your device or card, and it also has a task manager to break down where your RAM is allocated.

Clear out your Pocket IE cache (Tools, Options, Memory, Delete files) if you have been using IE. This takes up a bunch of space. You also want to move your media files to a storage card or BIS to free up RAM. It's also a good idea to put anything you don't want to lose in case of a hard-reset into a nonvolatile storage area (BIS or storage card).

Thanks PocketBrain!

It was the I.E. files that were growing! After deletion of the files you suggested I have gained back 15MB of Program memory. Thanks again! I will also check out
MemMaid per Dood's suggestion. I appreciate all the swift responses received.:)
