Please help! Something happenned and now, all of a sudden out of nowhere, whenever I try to install any program onto the SD card - I get the following error message (see the attached screenshot): "Cannot copy the file. Make sure the mobile device is connected, that the mobile device has space available and is not write protected, and that all setup programs on the device have been completed."
But everything is connected, it's not write-protected, there's almost a gig of free space, and I did soft-reset!
However, if it's a .CAB file, it does let me install it manually without any problem! Although, it appears, that it also won't let me create a folder on the SD card named longer than a dozen or so characters..
What is happenning? Please help me, what do I do?!
there is a limitto the amount of files you can have in the root direc. try making a folder like storage card/apps
chris
But how do I choose the path Storage Card/Apps when installing a program? I can only choose from these 3 root paths - Main Memory, Built-in Storage, or Storage Card! When installing, no such choice is given to create or install into a subfolder, and if I make a new subfolder manually - how do I then choose it as the install path??

mmmm.... well... have you tryed backing up the entire contents of your sd card up to your computer then formatting it then copying everything back?

No, no, no! Nothing to do with formatting, please! :)
What you said before about a maximum amount of folders looks like it's exactly the cause! Because I tried to create one more folder with a 1-letter name, and then inside of it I could now actually create many more folders with long names (where as Storage Card root path stopped alowing me to do that)!
So you were right on point - it's the limit on a certain amount of folders on Storage Card!
But now this creates a new issue: I created a folder named "MORE STUFF" and inside of it decided to install all the future installations.. but then I realized that when we install something - we are NOT given a choice of a subfolder as installation path! We can only choose 3 install paths - Main Memory, Built-in Storage, and the Storage Card!
So now how will I install the future apps into this "MORE STUFF" subfolder when I cannot choose it as install path?!
P.S.
I know that I can install .CAB files manually to any path I like, but that's missing the point - I need to be able to install regular .EXE files without any hastle!..
You have to format your card in FAT32 and you'll be able to have lots more folders under storage root. Just copy whatever you have on your SD to your PC, format your SD (FAT32) and copy back your files from your PC.

Oh ok ok I see!..
Is there a way to check my current storage card partition, maybe it already is FAT32 and I'm mistaken about the whole folders thing.. How do I check my current storage card partition?
And could you also describe please the step-by-step how to format the storage card to FAT32?
Thanks!
I usually format my SD card on my PC (using a card reader). But you can also format it on your PPC using tools like Pocket Mechanic, SKTools, Resco Explorer etc. You can download the trials which will show you all the info you need on your storage card.
