Touch Screen Unresponsive
My aunt got a new x50 and put her x30 away in her closet. She just gave it to me as payment for making her a new website and I have a big problem with it. When I turn it on, because we reset it, it starts at the align screen thing, but the touch screen doesn't respond when I tap the screen with my stylus. I did a soft reset and the same thing happens on the "tap screen to set up your pocket pc" screen. It's no longer under warrenty and I have no idea whats wrong with it, can anyone help me out at all?

If that unit has a lock switch, make sure it is disabled.

I don't think the X30 has a lock switch. I have a similar problem with my old Cassiopeia E200, I wore the screen out in one corner. The best way to get through the alignment routine is to find your finest (sharpest) stylus-point (no, the stock stylus won't really do a good job) and press firmly, then pull up quickly instead of "normal" tapping. This reduces "dragging", which will send the little alignment cursor around your screen again.

It doesn't even go to the second arrow, the screen doesn't respond at all.

Also, I tried the above advice, it didn't work. Any other suggestions?

I think I saw a similar issue that was resolved by taking the battery out for an extended period. Was an x51v though. Wait and see the others suggestions and then give it a try as a last resort.

I believe Hard Reset is accomplished on an X30 by holding Power and pressing the reset button on the back, then follow the prompts. X30 owners, back me up on this?
Another thing, remove your main battery and your backup battery and let it sit for 10 minutes or so. And make sure your backup battery is good! I can't remember if X30 has a removable/replaceable backup.

Yep, that's how to do it. I don't know much about the backup battery though; just that it's rechargable under normal circumstances and isn't a CR2032 battery that would need to be replaced.

[EDIT]
Here's a link to a thread about how to remove/replace the backup battery. (I wouldn't really recommend it though if you're not electronically inclined.) However, I don't know if that is even related to the problem. Go with the hard reset and then let us know if that solved the problem.

Thanks! The hard reset worked! I knew even a non-working x30 was worth the web site I made for it.
