Anyone have experiencing changing the sync connector? The pins in mine are bent up pretty badly, so I have ordered a replacement part. Unfortunately, the current sync connector appears to be soldered on, but I'm not sure of what to solder to remove it, and what to solder to connect it. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks!!!
There are two pins that are part of the case of the connector. Those need to be de-soldered before you take it off. Then there are the pins right on top. That copper solder wick doesn't work to suck that up. We nearly burnt my board doing that before we gave it to one of the experienced guys at work. He used a solder vacuum and it sucked it right up. You also need a very small temperature controlled soldering iron. If you're good you can probably do it with a non temp controlled iron or maybe a big one, but it gets really hard. If you have any doubts at all I would suggest taking it to somebody who really knows what they're doing. It's a tough solder job. My first one didnt' take because the pins on the case weren't soldered correctly so I nearly tore the pins off. But the second time they were put in alot better, so I think I'm set. By the way, welcome to aximsite.

Good point. Straightening pins is alot easier and can be done with an assortment of dental picks and needle nose pliers and such. They WILL get bent again though and every time you bend and straighten them you're comprimising their strength. Eventually you'll have pins breaking. Which is also acceptable to a point.

Yea, definitely try and fix it. When this happened to my x30 I got myself a set of fine nose tweezers and a magnifying glass which worked like a charm. The 2nd time this occurred (months later) the pins broke off because they became brittle.
Go to www.ppctechs.com. No need for a part number, you just say which line of axim you have. There are other places to find the connector too. It's a very common problem, so any place that sells spare axim parts should have the connectors.

There is also a ppctech-esque place over there that will do the same things and has those parts. I forget the name though, perhaps somebody will recall it.

Hi
There are 2 bended pins in my axim's connector. I can recharge my battery but I can't synchronize my axim with my PC.
Is there an other way to sync' them (via the SD card maybe...)?
