How di I get past the "align screen"?

I was given an Dell Axim X30 by a person who received it over a year ago. This person never did anything with it. I installed the battery and charged it with the power adapter for over 8 hours (green light came on). Them when I turned it on I got 3 screens: 1. Dell blue screen 2. Blue screen with Microsoft Windows logo telling me to touch screen to aligh. 3. Align screen came up and told me to align by touching 4 corners.

But then how do I get out of the align screen. No other screen comes on. If I do a soft reset, i get the same 3 screens again. I never get the screen with the "Start" banner in the corner.

Would I need a new battery since the original battery sent with the pocket pc is over a year old? I have re-charged it many times til the green light comes on. After the chargin, I turn the power button on but it doesn't take too long for the yellow amber light to come back on.

Bottom line.....i can't get anywhere from the "align screen"....Help.

Try to do a hard reset, I think I remember someone said that they had this type of problem and it went away after a hard rest. By the way did you touch the corners or indicated points?

I don't remember for Windows Mobile OS but I know in Palm if you didn't tap on the spots (close enought anyways) then you would have to keep doing it. So if a hard reset doesn't work, then you might be looking at a bad digitizer. I don't know though; it's just a thought.
