A couple of times my Axim X30's battery went down completely which resulted in complete reset. After that I charged it completely and the next time it lost charge quickly. I tried recharging again, but Axim doesn't come up. While charging it changes the charge light color and it becomes green after a while. Still couldn't bringup the PDA itself.

I tried to remove the battery, connect the charger and power it up. The green light comes up and goes off immediately and Axim doesn't come up as usual.

My battery dead or Axim itself is dead? I don't have a spare battery to try, so I would like to know if buying a new battery will solve the problem.

there's a microswitch on the board that is pushed when the battery is in place, it wont come up without that battery in place.

Usually, even if it will charge *alittle*, it will come up. However, the internal battery cant be completely dead. It needs alittle charge before everything will boot.

Luckily Axim batteries are *cheap*. No a big risk in getting a new one to see if thats the issue.
