Power button flashing amber / green.

I've read quite a few posts, and am still not sure what's wrong. My x30 was sent to a company for service, and i was told the main board needed replacement. I declined the service because the price was more than i paid for the pda.

I got my unit back and put it in the cradle to charge. The unit will not power on unless it is docked. I switched batteries and the unit still will not power on if not docked (This was not the problem I sent it out for service for.).

Each time i dock it, the indicators show that both BUB and Main battery are dead. I don't know why it drained if it's in the charger. I just replaced the BUB several months ago, so I know it's good.

Could there be some issue with the battery connector being damaged when i sent it for service?

doubt its the main board. That would run up the cost to fix? dunno. I'd say simple battery or cord. might be able to use troubleshooting guide as to why the power light is blinking green?

I believe it does that when your main battery is dead or not chargable. And if your main battery is dead for more than a certain length of time your BUB will die also losing all memory.

I'm guessing the battery is not charging because the unit is not getting any contact with the battery. I charged the batteries completely and neither my stock battery nor my extended battery power the unit. Can the battery contacts be replaced without replacing the entire main board?

Reason I posted is that I had the same thing happen with my X30. But, luckily I had an extra main battery so I never lost info or had to replace my BUB. I tried looking into replace the circuit board on the old battery since is was a mugen extended life, but it turned out cheaper to buy like a new battery from ebay for $9.99-$20. So I don't know if it's the same for you. So it works fine with the adapter pluged in, but not the batteries?

I think I may experiencing a similar, if not the same, problem as y'all.

Earlier I had a Mugen Extended battery in my Axim x30; it has been working well for the past 3 or so years, so I didn't have reason to think badly of it. Unfortunately, today my Axim showed the 'memory error' screen after I took it out of its aluminum case to use. I swapped in my original, normal-sized battery, and I had occasional success in making it stay on.

I'm thinking that especially with the extended battery, the battery contacts on the Axim are not working correctly anymore. The extended battery has also always had about a millimeter of a gap after being installed (on the right side / window area), so I'm wondering if that could have contributed to the problem (or just my switching between batteries over the years). The regular, old, battery seemed to have the same issue just now, but I have been able to fit it in where it does not move around (from the side to side) when installed, and so far I have not lost power.

Ok, turns out I was a little too optimistic. My Axim will still lose power on the occasional whack to its side or light tap/bump on the back when handling the unit. Yarnsrj or anyone else who may have experience, were you able to fix this problem? I'm fairly certain both my batteries themselves are working fine (at least, they were doing fine last week and it'd be odd for both of them to go bad at the exact same time).

Hmm....I think mine was strickly a battery issue since I no longer have problems with the charging. It could be your battery release lever is just alittle worn out from your 3+years use (which is really awesome your axim has served you that long).

Possibly try and see if your battery connects better when you push the battery up against the axim or vice versus try sticking a sheet of paper between your axim and battery to see if that helps. Then brain storm a way to make it permanent. Duck tape. Haha j/k. Good luck.

Yeah, I've had the same Axim for actually 4+ years now (in Fall 2003, when I first started college). Sad to see dying.

I think I'm actually gonna try and get a cheap replacement in the meantime and then swap out the battery from that Axim to see if my two existing batteries happen to be the culprit. If not, well, I guess I'll have to give the duct tape a try because that seems to be the only thing I feel confident in doing. :approve:

contacts

Simple method, clean the contacts (all: battery & machine side) with a pencil eraser.
It worked for mine.

I tried that also when initially fiddling with my Axim; unfortunately, it just didn't work for whatever reason (and seemed to make things worse as the Axim wouldn't turn on at all except when plugged in via AC adapter). Such is life. I appreciate the suggestion though.
