X30 - Won't power up, perfect until today

HI,

I hope someone can help with this, my trusty axim has died, i've been using this for 2 years as a tomtom device and have forgotten how to read a map!!!

Popped it in the cradle and pressed the power button, nothing. Ok i thought it does this when I haven't turned it of properly and the battery has gone flat...I plugged it into the mains charger and the power button lit red, left it for a few hours and the light went green, great fully charged and off we go.....

Not

Nothing, no power, no activity, have treid soft and hard reset but nothing! what can fail like this with no warning?

Help

From memory I don't think the X30 has a hardware lock switch, but check.
Try taking the battery out for a while, sometimes that kick starts things.

There are no lock switch on the X3 series.
Take a look at the buttom connector to see if there are any bended pins - and give a response :)

It's a very common error

Thanks for the responses,

Do you mean take it to pieces and have a look at the button connection on the motherboard?

I'll try the battery thing/

thanks again

Just take a magnifying glass and look from the outside at the pins located in the buttom connector.

The should all be strait - not bended.

I got the same problem

Hi, I have the problem with my AXIM 30v. The pins were bend I try to fix them, but I don't think I did a good job. Still doesn't turn on. Any advice? or idea of where I can send it to get it fix?
Thank you

(Warranty way expired by now- I read somewhere on the DELL website that just to tell me that is not working they would charge about $40)

If worse comes to worse, go to eBay and buy another one. You can find good deals there and you can get supplies and accessories there also. I bought a great one fo just 76.78 including S/H. I am very pleased with it. I plan on buy an internal backup battey, other batteries, LCD screens, digitalized touch screen, and other goodies, just to keep on hand so that if I need it in the future I will have them. Hope this helps. Don't worry, you can get a beloved DELL AXIM X30 PDA again :-)
