Just picked up a used Axim 30, using the windows mobile sync s/w built into Vista Premium, and the AXIM base with a USB connection the sync works well, i can sync calendar, files, etc..

However when I try and update the ROM using the Dell Axim System Update Software (it is running ver A02 I am trying to load A06) it starts, then stops, and I get an error msg on my PC (HP Pavilion a6544f);

Caution

USB driver problem found, please reset your device and and run this utility again

On the Axim it says;

P16+ EBOOT ver 04043000
Start USB download thread.!!
Waitting for host download.!!


Any Ideas?

The Dell updates that install via a USB connection will only work from a PC running XP.

You know, thats what I was kind of thinking since the device is almost 4 years old. I am going to take the unit to work today where my machine is still XP based and try and upgrade, thanks for your help.
