hello, i'm new to the forum (and the x30)
i just bought a used x30 (312MHz) and am having difficulty with storage. I think i have run out of storage because i'm trying to download pdf files for work, got quite a few on there, then started getting messages about "not enough memory". But when i check Settings/System/Memory/Storage Card, it shows total storage card memory: 30.88 MB, In use: 1.23, Free: 29.65. This doesn't make sense to me because i have some files downloaded over 5 MB each. I also did some research and it looks like the biggest external memory flash card i can use/buy for the x30 is 1GB. Is this correct? I own a 4GB Kingston Tech. SD/HC card (for a digital cam) that fits in the slot perfectly but i cant seem to get the x30 to recognize it. Is this because the card is over 1GB? Any help would be much appreciated and thank you for your patience. JJ

JJ, x30 won't support sdhc cards, only standard SD. as for size limits I'm unsure.
And the memory numbers you are quoting sound more like the internal memory specs?

Hi JJ. The SD card you own is an SDHC (Secure Digital High-Capacity). SDHC starts at 4GB on up. It's not backward compatible unfortunately. So, your Axim X30 can only use a 2GB external SD card max. Sorry about this. The good news is any device that can use SDHC can also handle 1- or 2GB cards. Just not the other way around with older devices (like maybe built before 2007). Fortunately, prices are super low on SD cards and you can probably pick one up cheap! Hope this helps and good luck.
