New Axim X30 troubles(SD and WiFi)

Hi,

I've bought this new Dell X30 High lately and I've already got some problems with it:

1. Very often after I insert SD Card(Kingston 2 GB by the way), the hole PPC freezes. Reset doesn't work at all, only taking the card out. After putting it back the same thing. I doubt it's this particular card's fault, because the same thing goes with 56k modem on SDIO. After a few attempts it finally recognise the card and work but only for some time.

2. Second thing is WiFi. It connects to the hotspot and shows that it's ok, but there is no possibility of browsing web or connecting to e-mail account. The Power Saving if off, so is the Oddysey. The LED is blinking rather slowly, but here I'm not sure if it should be like the LED on the LAN card in PC?

I'd be very grateful for any answers and hints.

P.S. Sorry if my english is not very well.

Your English is very good, and certainly better than my Polish.

Is the Axim New or New to you (second hand, used)?

If it is second hand, it might be best to do a Hard Reset.
This will remove any changes or errors that the first owner made and set it back to it's original settings.
It will also remove any Extra programs they have installed, if you want them you would need to have the installation software and registration codes.

A Hard Reset may fix the problem.

Check also that the SD card is simple SD and not SDHC. SDHC will not work with the X30.

The Wifi issue may just be a settings problem, and may also be fixed by a Hard Reset.

If the Axim is New then it may be something else.
If you can tell us a little more information we may be able to give you a better answer.

Thanks for the answer.

My Axim is New so there are no extra programs or settings. I also did a Hard Reset, but it changed nothing.

AFAIK SDHC card are only 4GB and higher.

The SD issue looks for me like some socket problem, but I'm new to PPC.

The next thing I noticed is that putting in a blank SD memory replacement from Dell (honestly I don't know how to call it even in Polish :) a black piece of ABS plastic with a shape of SD card) causes freez as well.

I found on a Polish board that WiFi connections should be set for Work and the "This network connects to Internet" checkbox should be checked, so I did that and still nothing. Earlier I also tried "My ISP"/"The Internet" settings but again the same thing.

Sounds like a hardware issue with the SD port. How does it look when you take the card out and shine a flashlight in there. Do all of the metal pin things seem to be in order?

Good point, I didn't really thought about it but no, pins look fine, nothing unusual in there.

I can send Axim on warranty service so I'll just wait 2 or 3 days and if nobody comes with the solution then it will be send back.

May this problems be caused by an old ROM version? I've got here A02.
