How do I Restore from Storage Card

I have a Dell Axim X30 and it always said battery backup low...unfortunately, my daughter got a hold of it and removed the battery, thereby losing ALL my information on the device.

I used sprite backup and I backed up to a storage card. My last back up was 4 days ago, however, I cannot seem to restore to my device. When I go to "restore" under programs, it says no backup file exists.

How do I get my device to run a backup from the storage card?

Thanks

When you open up Sprite backup on your pocket pc and go to the restore option, do you see three periods to the right of the File box? Tap those three dots and you can navigate to the place on the storage card where your backup file is. Select the file and then proceed with the restore procedure.

Sprite Backup install

Julie,

A friend of mine was the one who actually set this whold PDA up for me so I'm oblivious as to how anything works. My next problem is that when the PDA crashed, Sprite backup is no longer installed.

I don't know how to install programs onto my PDA...can you tell me how to find and reinstall Sprite backup so I can do the restore?

Thanks.

Rebecca

If the backup file was created as an executible file, then you'll be able to restore the file without reinstalling Sprite backup to your pocket pc. You can search the contents of your storage card for a file like that - it should have an .exe file extension on it.

If the backup file was not created as an executable file, you'll need to reinstall Sprite backup to your device (the same version that was originally installed to it). I doubt you'll be able to download the application from Sprite's website, since you were probably using a much older version of Sprite on the device than what is currently available on Sprite's website. I'm not sure that the most current version of Sprite can be used to restore from an older version backup file.

If the application was installed through ActiveSync on your computer, then you might be able to reinstall it from the ActiveSync application - the installation files for pocket pc applications are usually retained on the computer from which they were installed. If that is the case, you can open up ActiveSync on your computer, select Tools > Add/Remove programs > and look for Sprite Backup.
