Unusually high power consumption?

My X30 seems to work a little differently than my previous Pocket PCs (Casio and HP). I turn off the main power button, put it in its case and yet the next morning the battery seems to be drained.

At first I thought I had accidentally left the wireless on, but I have since double-checked this and this is not the case.

Do I need to do something special with my X30 such as explicitly shutting down all programs before turning it off for an extended period of time - ie. 12 hours ???

No, but if an alarm goes off and wakes up the device, you'd be using that power until it shuts itself off about 5 minutes later.

Yes, I thought of this too. But this is no different from previous PPCs.

I've installed GigearApps "BatMemTime" utility and will closely watch the power drain today & tomorrow to see if I can figure out what's going on.

^^Actually, that app in itself could be causing trouble as it is known to be VERY incompatible with wm2003se...

I use Battery Monitor 2.0 and it works great with WM2003SE. Give it a try. I know this is a stupid question but are you tapping the power button or holding it to turn it off?

And you're not leaving Windows Media Player open? Or any other app that prevents shutdown?

Well, it doesn't seem to be happening anymore so perhaps I was not actually turning off the WiFi I do know that it'll stay on even when you turn the "Power" button off. Fact is, that's not actually the power button, just the screen power button. This implementation actually makes sense, so that e-mails and instant messages can keep on arriving.

Tapping the power button turns it off, well the most you can without taking out battery. Pressing and holding the power button only turns the backlight off on the screen. If you just tap the power button will shut everything off including the wifi unless sometimes when you are connected wirelessly to activesync then wifi will keep running. If you don't see the wifi light blinking after you turn the unit off then wifi is off.

1. If you have the 624MHz model, get the 1800mAh battery to extend battery life.

2. Try disabling your program buttons while in suspend mode:
Start - Settings - System - Power - Advanced - Turn on device in suspend mode - uncheck both boxes.

This ensures accidental pressing of buttons other than the power button will not turn the unit on (like pressure from placing it in a super snug case;))
