Microphone Distortion
No matter what I do, even turning my mic sensitivity all the way down, it seems my recordings are distorted. I have the quality of the recording turned up (and down, I've experimented) but can not get a distortion-free recording out of this Axim. I don't expect the sound to be great, but this is ridiculous. Any suggestions? Anyone else having this problem?

I don't have any problems with the quality of the recordings using the built-in microphone on my X30, so you might have gotten a defective unit there ... You might also check out some of the available 3rd party recording programs out there such as the following before returning the unit to Dell since people tend to perceive the quality of different programs somewhat differently:

Me too. Best described as 'hissing' noise.

Hi everyone!

I actually got an Axim instead of spending the cash for a great voice recorder. The sound quality is great, but only when you experiment with the mic. You can click "input" underneath the place where you adjust gain to account for the presence or absence of background noise. Then click "options" and "voice recording format".The default setting is crappy, but I have found everything at and over 22,050 is more than adequate. It sucks up ALOT of space though, so you will need to add memory. I hope this helps.
