I had to do a system restore on my operating system and my computer no longer recognized the hand held. I also have lost my disk. Though, the claim is no software required. Any suggestions?

Don't Panic!

Your handheld is Okay. Do a hard-reset to get back to factory configuration. I still use Windows98SE on my desktop so I'm no help there. But maybe reinstalling Activesync will get them talking again.
