Whats the difference between a soft reset and a hard reset?

i'm just wondering what the difference is from a soft reset and hard reset?

softreset = turning off/on your pc
hardreset = format/reinstall windows

Not quite. Soft reset is not turning it off. Turning it off maintains state. A soft reset is using the reset button just like a reset on a PC.

Quite right about the hard reset though. It will clear all data that has been put into the main memory and go back towards the "straight out of the box" state, notwithstanding ROM updates etc.

heh if we are to be technically correct, then the reinstalling of windows as I call it is more accurately characterize as a restoring from an image rather than an install...

just thought I put it in layman's term where most ppl can relate without much thought into its technical accuracy.
