This Inhales Deeply and Rapidly!

my x30 was working fine last nite, was surfing the net with WiFi and everything was great.

Went to use it this morning and my battery was almost dead (2000mah from Mugen) and now my WiFi won't automatically acquire an IP address from my router!!

Reset the router, still no go.
Hard reset x30, still no go.

Did you have your Axim on the cradle and made sure juice was flowing to your Axim?

Anyway, Power Cycle your cable/dsl modem and router. turn all of them off and disconnect them from plug.

Since you already did a hard reset just turn on WiFi while your router is off and delete your router's Profile.

Plugyin and turn back on first your cable/dsl modem then your router.

DO NOT CHANGE ANY SETTINGS!! Leave them at default.

Follow IkeHiker's WiFi guide for further instructions: www.wifi.axtmsite.com

Best of luck. :approve:

Good idea for testing purposes, but don't LEAVE them all at default or anyone in range of your WAP can get on your network.

Don't think this has anything to do with the cable modem or router, unless you made some changes on your routers configuration. If you can still connect to the internet, leave the modem alone, but the soft reset of the router is always a good idea.

I'm thinking this is more of a battery power issue. Charge er up all the way, maybe even charge the main battery in the cradle by itself.

Also, have there been any new WLANS set up in your vicinity recently? Channel issues, etc?

Personally, for me, it's always been a router/cable modem issue, to date. All I do when my WiFi acts up is what I stated above: power cycle, reset router, soft reset Axim and BAM! back surfing the net.

Sometimes the problem is cleared up by just pulling my router out of the plug for a minute and putting it back in and guess what? My Axim connects immediately.

Yes, Wooch06, I think he should definitely charge his Axim up completely including the Backup Battery because, as we all know, if there's not enough juice WiFi won't even stay on.

Either way, I wish you the best of luck. :approve:

I didn't disagree with the router portion, although the soft reset should take care of this. My point was that if his other PC's can access the internet, there's no need to go through the whole "Modem - Router" power cycling process. I do this when I notice that the signal has dropped on my Cable modem, and that's about the only time that I need to do this. Also, when I do power off my CM, I leave the router on. This has always worked for me, just sharing my experience.

I usually reset the router and dsl modem whenever I have a problem. It didn't fix it this time.

I placed another battery in the x30, and it still has the same problem.

I placed the x30 in the cradle and it still has the same problem.

Here's what the pop up screen says:

Pocket PC Networking
! Unable to obtain a server-assigned IP address. Try again later or enter an IP address in Network settings.

I don't think it's a configuration problem, as it was working last nite.

I had been getting that message for a couple of days, but then it would connect in about 30 seconds. This time no connect at all.

Battery at 100% backup at normal

let try to manually connect. After you get that message popping up do this. Tap on the wifi metter in bottom right corner, goto edit network profiles. You will see your AP name listed there with the word avalible on it. Tap and hold on it and choose connect. It will now say connecting and then connected if it worked. If it goes back to avalible try to connect again. Do that a few times and see if it works.

Well, soft resetting your router would clear its IP connection out, so that's not the issue. You've hard reset as well, which means you set up a new profile. Are your WiFi power management settings the same? Maybe change the preamble settings on your Axim to match your router's setting? Also, is CTS disabled on your router?

Yep, disable power management, the who nine yards. :(

Nothing has been changed on the router, this went from a working situation 12:30am this morning 9/18/04 to a non-working situation 8:00am this morning 9/18/04.

Could the wifi have dies somehow??

I can't see how it is software related or even rom related because of the hard reset.

This figures, my WiFi has not been working since 9/18, called tech support today to get a replacement and it started working while I was on the phone with tech support.

didn't do anything at all to it!!! It just started working
