Pocket Word doesn't open

Hi-
When I open Pocket Word, it never stays open- it just closes. Does anyone know what's going on?
Thanks!

how are you opening it?
are you clicking a document or opening pword directly?
always try the miraculous soft reset < does wonders for stuck apps, unresponsive PPCs and even helps reduce acne.

I'm opening it from my start menu, & I've tried from my programs list. Soft resets don't help at all. Reducing acne- man--this thing works wonders!

does it open the list of documents you have that pword recognizes? -even if it closes right away. it should open showing a list of available pword documents, if it doesn't show that what does it show?

it might have a problem with one of the files, or if it is looking at a memory card that is removed it might be getting lost.

it doesn't show any files.. its just like its brand new. i kept all my files on my other storage card (then everything disappeared), which currently isnt in the slot (but the same thing happens anyway), but wouldn't it stay open so i can make a new file?

So what happens if you select NEW from the Today screen?

I am having the same problem as well and have ever since I bought my x3i. I tried the "New" Word document and it opened right away. I tried to close Pocket Word and it's froze. That little thing in the middle of the screen is just turning like crazy.

Would it be wise to delete all doc files from my axim and try again? or is this mainly a problem with dell machines.

I would try a hard-reset. Typically when my axim has some kind of odd problem it will do the trick

Yup. Sounds like it's time for a hard reset. That almost certainly will correct the problem. It's like a fresh install of Windows!

If you have an SD card, you might try moving some other programs out of main memory onto the card (programs that you added, and not those that must run in main memory!) This will give the Axim more program loading and runnig room ..... sort of like having more available RAM on a desktop PC...

This program moving may give Pocket Word just a bit more room to work well, and could stop the crashes.......IWAT

done soft & hard reset but never to any avail. i've had this problem on a previous x3i.

i deleted that one crap file from bis. after i did that, i was finally able to get to the open screen. click on a document and the thing just writhes in agony.

any other tips? too bad we can't just delete the program since i have textmaker installed already.

thanks

bernard

Are you using the ROM update released by Dell in July 2004?

I would like to thank everybody for your suggestions. It's great to have a place like this where so many people are willing to help out other Axim users!!!

And it seems, just like everybody else seems to say, it just fixed itself. Last night, after a year of not being able to use it, Pocket Word finally broke from its confines!! Don't ask me how or why, cause I'll never understand it myself.

Thanks again.

Bernard
