Hmm Axim x30 freezes after I upgraded the OS and Media Player

Hello,

I have an Axim x30, 624MHz with Bluetooth/wireless. I have upgraded the OS to Version 4.21.1088 (Build 14260) with the new Windows Media Player 10. I did, prior to that, backup the system and then restored it.

At first I had a problem with Media Player 10 in that the default skin wasn’t accessible, and no other skins showed up to load. I handled this as per a fix that I found on a forum on this site (i.e. imported the registry from the Media Player 10 before I restored from the previous OS version. This now works fine. :approve:

However, and here is what the problem is, my Axim now freezes up quite regularly. In particular, about every third time that I go to turn it on, it won’t turn on. The only way to handle this is to do a soft reset, which works. Sometimes there is a slight flicker when I first push the power button, but the screen goes immediately blank again as if it is turned of. It didn’t use to do that before I upgraded – I have never run into it until now. Also, a couple of times, when I went to turn the Axim off it froze and the power button was not responding. Again, the only way to handle it was to do a soft reset and, after it has started up, to then turn it off.

Has anyone run into this as well? Does anyone know a handling for this?

Thanks.

There have been a lot of people reporting problems following a ROM update and restore. I chose to take the alternative and less painful route...upgrade the ROM and perform a hard reset. while it is a pain to install all my apps again, its better than having things go wrong with the OS...I prefer a clean install than a dirty (restore) one.
