Worried Activesync Issue

Okay, I just got my new X30h a couple days ago (after waiting approx. 1 month :) ) and tried to set it up on my computer. I installed Activesync without the cradle plugged in, then plugged in the cradle and turned on the device. The cptr recognized the device, and activesync started up, but it would never get past "Connecting..." on the computer, thus I wasn't able to sync. Long story short: I called dellindia tech support and the guy had me uninstall Spybot S&D, Pest Patrol, Replay Radio, and after that didn't work he wanted me to either try it on another PC "Without so much security.", or uninstall Norton & Windows sp2 as well. Well, I chose to try it on another PC. I tried my friends HP, and I couldn't even get activesync to install (some .dll error). So I tried it on my mom's PC and it worked, I could sync and everything. My question is this; Now that I know that the cradle and the device are working properly, do I really need to take dell/india's tech advice and uninstall sp2 & Norton just to get this thing to sync? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using XP SP2 with active sync. It works fine. Maybe some firewall setting are keeping you out. Active Sync uses an IP address to connect to the pocketpc.

Yeah, I have Activesync set up as an "Exception" in the windows firewall, and I'm not running any other software firewalls. My mom's PC that it worked on was also using SP2.

Well, I uninstalled SP2 (not Norton), and it worked. You gotta love Microsoft. :approve:

If you have norton you could diable it instead of deleting it. As far as SP2 I think it belongs in the trash.
Then again so does Norton. My computer repair place said that Norton updates once a week where as Panda antivirus updates everyday and is more usre friendly. I just got rid of Norton this week and installed Panda and it found 2 viruses right away. Did not mean to get off track
